Pupils in 6VD have been investigating what makes the ‘best’ bubble. Is it size? Is it longevity? Perhaps it’s the number you can blow in a row. We used a variety of equipment to test our questions. Here are some results.

Year 6’s Letters Of Invitation
Last week, the children in year 6 wrote a letter of invitation to a person doing the job which they would most like to do when they are older.
The point of the letter was to invite people to our career fair which we are having in the summer. All of us want to do different jobs when we are older; a pilot, vet, doctor, builder, chef, athlete and even a TV presenter.
On Thursday, (snow day) two of our classmates went to post the letters so they could be sent off (some even went to America!) We all had great fun and hope to see our person/company at our careers fair!
We are really excited!

Estrellita, ¿dónde estás? Year 4s twinkling performance!
4AA & 4AM put their linguistic skills to the test before Christmas, learning how to sing ‘Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star’ in Spanish.
Year 4 Cookery Day
Before Half Term Year 4 had their taste buds tickled by founder of the Christchurch Food & Wine Festival, Mary Reader and her team of fabulous chefs. The children helped to prepare several dishes which they were then able to try.
Copies of the tasty recipes they made can be found here.
Below are two children’s accounts of the day:
Last Friday 4AM went to the hall for a cooking experience to make and taste some healthy foods. We put on our colourful aprons and split up into small groups. My group started by making noodles with vegetables and chicken in. Chopping the vegetables was lots of fun. The noodles tasted yummy and I really enjoyed them.
We then moved onto making an omelette …. I did not like eating it one bit but I saw other people going up for more though. Next we made fish cake which I didn’t like that much either – probably because it had vegetables in!
Afterwards, we tried flapjack. I usually like flapjack but this was made using natural sugars such as honey to sweeten it. It tasted quite different!
I guess it’s safe to say that my whole class had an excellent time cooking. Much better than Maths anyway!

On Friday we had so much fun making a variety of healthy meals. We made an omelette with things that I don’t normally like but it was delicious. Then we made chicken chow mien using noodles. It was scrumptious. It also had ginger, spring onions, broccoli and many other nutritious things.
At the end of the sessions, we got to taste a non-sugar flapjack. Despite the lack of sugar, it tasted amazing. All in all it was fun getting to chop, prepare and mix different foods.

CHRISTCHURCH SCHOOLS DANCE FESTIVAL
On 22nd June a group of Year 5 dancers went to the Regent Centre for a dance festival. We had spent many weeks practising and in the end we came up with a Japanese style fan and martial arts dance. Also, we performed at the school’s Summer Fair in front of all the parents. Both performances had an amazing atmosphere and it was a very good experience. Thanks go to Mrs Rogers and Miss Melvin for their fantastic choreography and support.
