Peripatetic Music Lessons
Instrumental music lessons at Christchurch Junior School are provided by experienced music teachers who come into school to teach our children.
We offer 30 lessons per year (an average of 10 a term). This term there are slightly different changes due to Covid -19 restrictions. All children will be in a 1:1 lesson of 15 minutes. Children should arrive 5 minutes before their lesson time so as to unpack their instrument and be ready to start their lesson on time. Lessons take place during the school day and will be at the same time each week.
The instrument lessons we currently offer to children are: cello, clarinet, drum kit, flute, guitar (bass, acoustic and electric) keyboard, saxophone, tenor horn, trumpet, trombone, euphonium and violin. Electric guitar is only available after 1 year of acoustic lessons.
Depending on the instrument, lessons cost between £7.00 and £8.20 per lesson payable in advance at the beginning of each term.
The children will need to have their own instrument. We have a few instruments in school which are available to hire at £15 per term on a first come first served basis. Instruments are also available for hire from Sound Storm. Children learning keyboard should have one at home but will not need to bring it in every week. Children learning drum kit should bring their own drum sticks in. They will need a practice pad to use at home if they do not have a drum kit.
